...of the strong sense of community. At MHC, students support each other through the academically rigorous environment, and truly want each other to succeed. When I sat in on a class as a prospective student, it was the first time I got to hear so many diverse perspectives from students who all had strong ideas of their own, while equally valuing the ideas of others.
...Romantic Relationships (PSYCH-330) with Professor Haydon! The course involves coding videos from real couples working through conflict, and conducting our own research using the data. My project examined the relationship between the emotional impact of the conflict on individuals based on how their partners show understanding, with consideration for the role of attachment. Professor Haydon facilitated a supportive environment for those getting into research, and the topic was a lot of fun to explore!
...watching Dirty Dancing in the amphitheater on the first night of orientation. Just as the move in chaos was settling, I was able to take in what was around me, experience our wonderful community, and make long lasting friendships. Joining my new peers to watch the movie, shouting at the screen, I knew I was where I was meant to be.
