...watching Dirty Dancing in the amphitheater on the first night of orientation. Just as the move in chaos was settling, I was able to take in what was around me, experience our wonderful community, and make long lasting friendships. Joining my new peers to watch the movie, shouting at the screen, I knew I was where I was meant to be.
...Developmental Psychology with Professor Haydon and Social Justice in Education with Professor Matos. Developmental Psych is a lecture full of discussion on how humans become who they are. Social Justice in Edu is also a discussion driven lecture, allowing students to critically analyze education systems and constructions of society. Both of these courses have further shaped what I seek in my education, and what I want to do after Mount Holyoke.
...of the strong sense of community. At MHC, students support each other through the academically rigorous environment, and truly want each other to succeed. When I sat in on a class as a prospective student, it was the first time I got to hear so many diverse perspectives from students who all had strong ideas of their own, while equally valuing the ideas of others.
