Pangy Day! The life of spring, the fresh watermelon, and warmth of the sun on our vibrant outfits after New England winter is too beautiful to answer any other way here.
As much as I love my International Relations major, I will talk about an Economics class for this one. My favourite class I've taken at college (also arguably the hardest one) has been Intro to Economic Growth. Completely different from the conventional seven principles of economics, this class took on a very niche topic of converting social trends to mathematical models (even though I am not a math person), I found myself SO engaged in this class. It challenged my ways of thinking in all the right ways, and I'm so excited to apply this skill in other fields of mine!
My priority was academic rigour in a school, but also one that offers a major as niche as International Relations (sometimes different from just Politics or Government), which is all extremely brilliant here. I also knew I was specifically looking at small liberal arts colleges for my undergrad because of my love for classroom engagement, and more importantly: research opportunities. I haven't been disappointed in any of those aspects so far :)
Never ever ever undermine your value or abilities as a reflection of the colleges you do or do not get into. You add as much into every room you go to, every classroom, club or social group that you are a part of, and it is important to never sell yourself short of that. The application processes are admittedly daunting, but it is helpful to remember that every college has criterions or personalities that they may look for, and it isn't always because you lacked somewhere. Life is a very continuous process, and there are always ways to change paths and figure things out (something Mount Holyoke also truly believes in).
