My advice to prospective students is...

You have the potential to thrive at so many colleges and universities! It's important to explore several options and think about what you want, but at the end of the day, you'll find your academic and social home wherever you land. A year or two into college, you won't want to imagine having gone anywhere else.

My favorite class is...

I love the music & technology series, where we study and create experimental electronic music. Most of my musical training is in singer-songwriter and classical music practices, so experimental electronic music used to feel way out of my comfort zone. Surprisingly, I constantly find it influencing my abilities and points of inspiration as a singer-songwriter. Now, I'm taking the third of three classes in the series, and I work as a TA for students in all levels of the class.

I chose Mount Holyoke College because...

I wanted to challenge myself academically, while maintaining positive mental health. In high school, I was disappointed to find that many academic circles value overworking to the point of burnout. At Mount Holyoke, I learn more content at a faster pace than I ever imagined, while feeling supported to take care of myself. The Mount Holyoke community––students and faculty alike––value balance. Thanks to that culture, my habits as a student are much more healthy and sustainable than they ever were before Mount Holyoke.

My favorite MHC tradition is...

At the end of Freshmen Orientation, the first-year class watches the movie "Dirty Dancing" outside, at the amphitheater. There's an iconic moment where the main character's dad says, "Baby's going to Mount Holyoke in the fall." We all shout the line and cheer so loudly that all of South Hadley must hear us. It's such a joyful way to celebrate our community.
