Dirty Dancing! On the night of freshman move-in, I was able to watch such an amazing movie with a fantastic crowd! Despite that being truly one of the busiest days of my life, I still found myself lively and cheering for countless moments. It was also a chance for me to meet members of my freshman class, and create personal connections that persist to this day.
As soon as I stepped on campus, I felt like I was in an accepting place where I could foster amazing community. Students and staff alike are kind and authentic and I knew it could be a place where I could show my true self without fear or discomfort. The world-class academics drew me in as well, since I knew I would be able to be in classes with passionate students and professors! I truly love to learn, and I knew MHC would go above and beyond in granting me that fulfilling education.
Gods and Monsters! This was my first year seminar class, and it was an exploration of science fiction and horror literature, and how real life science has impacted and changed the genre. The class was full of lively discussions and super interesting material, which helped inspire some of my own independent writing about the horror genre as a whole! It also had some amazing essay topics that inspired some of my favorite essays I've written to this day.
You should follow your heart! College is where you'll be learning, living, and creating community for multiple years to come. It is important that you shed any expectations and focus on what truly inspires you and what draws you in. No one should choose for you because at the end of the day, this is your life and your future. Make yourself happy and become the best version of yourself you can be!
