Tour Guide at Mount Holyoke College
Class of 2024
Hometown: Oakland, CA
Major: Classics
It is so hard to pick just one! I think my favorite might be Pangy Day, which is a big spring festival that happens on the last Friday of Classes! There's a barbeque for everyone in the community, a petting zoo, flower crown making, lots of games and treats! It's such a nice celebration after a long year and it feels so nice to gather with everyone outside and enjoy the beauty of campus before going home for break!
My favorite class I have taken at Mount Holyoke was an Art History class on the city of Rome and how it's evolved over the past few thousand years! Each student chose a monument to follow and present on throughout the semester, and we also did our own major research paper! I love how student-driven the course was, and how many different kinds of art we looked referenced in our discussions (paintings, architecture, sculpture, film, etc).
The incredible community! Not only is it a warm and welcoming family for the four years you're here, but also for the rest of your life. I chose Mount Holyoke because of the strength of the Alumni Network and the life-long support and friendship it inspires. The love the alumnae have for their alma mater is definitely felt by the whole campus!
Take a deep breath; you're going to end up where you're meant to be. You should not feel like you have to change yourself to fit in somewhere; find the community in which you could see yourself thriving just as you are.
